Some time later

After the rigors of staying in Peak Hill and the hardships of the traffic, we set off for Dubbo the next morning. As we were not quite sure where the house was (we had been here about 5 years ago), we rang Janet and met her and headed for the house which is about 4KM outside town. After lunch we headed off into Dubbo and went for a 20 minute bike ride along the Macquarie river. This is a lovely relatively new cycle track that also goes around soccer fields. These fields are the flood plain for the river and during the last flood the river broke its banks and went onto the fields. The track ran along the river and we could have ridden to the Zoo (3km) but we ran out of time.
As it turned out to be Janet's Birthday, we were tasked with buying a birthday cake and some celebratory drinks. We also visited the Telstra shop to organise Dad's phone so he could swap to Telstra and take the number with us (It worked).
Angie, Justin and their two daughters and Angie's cousin from Chile also came out for the celebratory tea and we had a great time as food and conversation was wide and varied.(See Photo 1)
Today (Saturday 12th), both Ethan (rugby league) and Elijah (rugby union) had football games and both were in town and not 3 hours away. It was a beautiful day but the wind was a little cool to watch the footy - warm tops were required all round. Both had good wins against the Narromine opposition.
Janet and I managed a visit to Rivers and Eilish took me to the local Arts centre to view early info about Dubbo and some Aboriginal artwork and artefacts. Some wonderful artwork on the back of kangaroo pelts.

I have had word that viewers of the blog are having trouble making comments - I think I have fixed that problem.
That's all for the day.

  1. Sounds like a fun trip. Too much bike riding? I'm impressed. Just back from LA, so this is the first time I have been able to view your blog. Keep the words flowing!

  2. Great to hear you're both enjoying yourselves! Freezing in Canberra; you've left at the perfect time. Happy Mothrer's Day, Mum! The Wyche's.
